Homemade Pasties

This was fun to make and the kids loved it. Your creativity can really run wild with this recipe though. There should be about 1/2 cup of filling in each pastie. You could add in cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers, mushrooms, different meat fillings, etc.

1lb ground beef
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp curry powder
1 clove garlic – minced
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp tyhme
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 c. beef broth
1/2 c. bread crumbs (plain)
3 packages of reduced fat crescent rolls
1 large egg, lightly beaten

Preheat over to 400. In a frying pan, cook beef along with spices, until done. When beef is done, add bread crumbs and beef broth. Mix well, and remove from heat. With the crescent rolls, take them out of package, leaving them intact as much as possible. You’ll need 4 total for each pastie, 2 on the bottom and 2 on the top. Place 2 crescent rolls on the pan, rolled out flat and gently press the two together to form 1 whole square. Place 1/2 cup of filling and spread evenly on the crescent rolls. Place 2 crescent rolls on top and use a fork around the edges to form a seal. Repeat until all 6 are done. Once they are finished and on the baking sheet, lightly beat egg and brush egg on top of the crescents. Cook at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, then serve.
