Natural Home Cleaners

When trying to clean up your life, one way to do this is by introducing all natural home cleaners as well. This can help lessen the amounts of asthma attacks, allergies, and you won’t have to deal with that chemical smell every time you clean the bathroom, plus these are great for the environment! 🙂 It’s a win-win!

Here are a few ways you can introduce more natural cleaners into your house:

  • Drain cleaner – Pour 1/2 c. of baking soda down the drain, using a funnel or a cup that can bend a little makes this easier. Follow it up with 1 cup of white vinegar and watch it foam. The kids enjoyed watching this one in the bathtub, but little did they know that I was clearing out the drain. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then flush with at least 1 gallon of warm to hot water.
  • All purpose cleaner – This can be used on counters, mirrors, windows, etc. Mix 2 cups of water with 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, topped off with 1/4 cup of lemon juice, mix well. You can put this in an empty spray bottle and use it all over the house.
  • Did you know that club soda can be used to remove scratches from stainless steel sinks? Just pour some club soda in the sink, use a clean rag and wipe down the sink. Once done, wipe dry with a new clean rag.
  • I’ve used rubbing alcohol numerous times to remove marker or pen marks from my couches, floors, etc. I even used it to remove purple marker from a light tan suede chair 🙂
  • Easy floor cleaner – Mix 1 cup of vinegar and a few drops of baby oil with 1 gallon of warm water. This smells great and keeps your floors clean.
  • When making your own cleaners, it’s best to do a spot check on a small piece of the area you are cleaning to make sure there are no adverse reactions. Also if you want to add a certain scent to your cleaning items, use essential oils like grapefruit, tea tree, lemon, lavender, or more.
