Workout Wednesday – Daily Tip #72

WorkoutWednesdayMost of the time, I touch base on different exercises and ways to stay in shape. This week I want to get back to basics…. WALKING! Did you know that you should have a goal of 10,000 steps per day? This may seem like a HUGE amount, but if you are on your feet most of the day, I am sure you are hitting this goal with ease. However, if you have a job where you sit for the majority of the day, this will be a harder goal to reach. Here are some tips on reaching that 10,000 step goal:

  • When going to the store, don’t search out the closest spot. Pick a spot that is convenient, but still a good distance from the door.
  • Take the stairs, not the elevator or escalator.
  • When sitting at your desk, make a point to get up at least once every hour and stay on your feet for 15 minutes. This will get the blood flowing.
  • Walk to your mailbox. If you have a community mailbox like we do, walk to the mailbox. Don’t drive your car, even if that means driving by the mailbox, parking at your house, then walking to the mailbox.
