Most of the time, I touch base on different exercises and ways to stay in shape. This week I want to get back to basics…. WALKING! Did you know that you should have a goal of 10,000 steps per day? This may seem like a HUGE amount, but if you are on your feet most of the day, I am sure you are hitting this goal with ease. However, if you have a job where you sit for the majority of the day, this will be a harder goal to reach. Here are some tips on reaching that 10,000 step goal:
- When going to the store, don’t search out the closest spot. Pick a spot that is convenient, but still a good distance from the door.
- Take the stairs, not the elevator or escalator.
- When sitting at your desk, make a point to get up at least once every hour and stay on your feet for 15 minutes. This will get the blood flowing.
- Walk to your mailbox. If you have a community mailbox like we do, walk to the mailbox. Don’t drive your car, even if that means driving by the mailbox, parking at your house, then walking to the mailbox.
What changes can you make to your daily routine to get more steps in?
