Do you give yourself a day of the week that consists of zero plans? If not, why don’t you? Having a day where there are no plans, no errands, etc. is a great way to unwind. It helps you feel rejuvenated and gives you some much needed energy!
This last weekend was really nice! We had no plans starting Saturday afternoon. Friday night and Saturday morning were full of soccer tryouts and registration! I couldn’t be more proud of my 9 year old son for making his U11 team with his current soccer academy! Good job!
Back to the weekend! On Saturday, we just did what we wanted. That included watching our favorite soccer team, Real Salt Lake play. It was nice having them play in Seattle (other than the score), but it meant that we didn’t have to plan our Saturday around soccer. We relaxed and watched it at home, had some drinks, and went grocery shopping. Nothing overly exciting, but at the same time it was relaxing not being on a schedule.
Sunday was another great day. We laid in bed for awhile, had some mimosas, then began some yard work! I don’t love yard work, but I really love seeing the transformation our yard has made in the last year of us being in our house. When we moved in, part of the yard was dead due to a trampoline, there were dandelions ALL over, brown spots, and TONS of weeds! So many weeds we took a hedge trimmer to them rather than pulling them. HORRIBLE! But this year we have been proactive and the yard is looking great! After yard work, my husband and I made dinner. He bbq’d burgers (stuffed with bacon and cheese) while I steamed yellow squash and made roasted red potatoes seasoned with rosemary, thyme, oregano, garlic, and onions. Our son was bragging to my aunt that it was one of the best meals he’s ever had! We ended the weekend with a fire in the fire pit I got for Mother’s Day and the kids had S’mores. Nice and relaxing all the way around!
What do you do to relax? And what day of the week do you try to relax the most?
