We are almost coming to an end…. Right now, I’m still in 3rd, my husband is in 2nd, and another co-worker is in 1st. We are on the downward stretch and it’s time for me to buckle down. My husband has decided that he’s not going to eat for a whole week. I tried convincing him that it wouldn’t be the best way to lose weight, so he decided to eat anyway. I’m eating right around 1200 calories per day, but it’s all whole natural foods. I’ve avoided sugars completely and most dairy, except for the half & half I put in my coffee. I can’t drink it black. I just can’t. But other than that, we’ve been doing really well. We are eating whole grains, so we aren’t depriving ourselves too much. Now it’s just time to buckle down and win this thing!
We weighed in yesterday, and I’m down about 4.5% of my weight in 2 weeks. A lot of this is water weight, but I know that a lot of it has to do with juicing, watching what foods I eat, and focusing on clean snacking habits. I haven’t had any sugar in 16 days. That’s even with Easter! We have another 2 weeks and will do our final weigh in on the 20th. I’m looking forward to this. It has been a lot easier doing this challenge with my husband. We both support each other, vent to each other, and talk about our cravings and how much we want pizza and Jack Daniels, but we’ve powered through and haven’t strayed yet.
Right now I’m in 3rd place in the competition. My husband is in 1st, but we are all separated by only .7%, which isn’t much at all. I’m looking forward to the next 2 weeks. I’ll probably be a bit antisocial so there are zero temptations, but it’ll be worth it. Especially if one of us ends up winning! 🙂
This seemed like a great Day 15 picture, because of the quote that was included! Man, oh man! Was Easter hard!!!! Surrounded by some of my favorite candy, but we held strong. Also the street we live on does an Easter egg hunt for all of the neighbor kids. Last year we all hung out for about an hour, called it good, and went our separate ways. Well this year, it turned into a 4 hour hang out session, which was great, but everyone was enjoying mimosas and cocktails except for us. That took some serious will power considering I’m a sucker for a mimosa! I would honestly drink them all day if I could. But nope! My husband and I held SUPER strong! I even came in the house and made us a fresh juice and went back outside to drink it. It was fun hanging out with all of the neighbors, but a holiday is a terrible time for a weight loss challenge. 🙂 But that’s alright, it’s over and done with. And considering all of the candy the kids got, there will definitely be some left over in 2 weeks. But we are on Day 15 now. Only 2 more weeks left, so let’s see how this goes. We have a mid-challenge weigh in today. I’m feeling pretty good. Hopefully the scale agrees.
Today’s juice will consist of 2 grapefruit & 2 kiwis. I got our Bountiful Basket last night and was excited to see some mangoes and cantaloupe in there, along with some oranges. We were picking up Saturday mornings, but we found one that is Thursday evening and it seems to work out better for everyone. And it’s nice being able to sleep in on Saturday mornings when we don’t have soccer.
What are your plans for the weekend? I’m determined to finish my blanket! I only have one long side left that needs a border and then I AM DONE! After 3 years of making it, I’m sad to see the project end, but now I’ll have time for other projects, so that’s fun. And the family and I are going to try to go fishing either tonight or tomorrow night. We have a small fishing pond near our house, and thanks to a kind teenager, he let us know the fish never bite in the morning, when we usually go, only in the evening! Well maybe we can get some dinner then!
Yesterday was a good day. I was able to work from home because our daughter is off school from Spring Break and I didn’t have a sitter. So I was able to sleep in a little longer since I didn’t have to get ready for work. My energy kind of hit rock bottom around 2:30pm yesterday though. So I took a quick nap while snuggling up with my baby girl (she’s not really a baby anymore, but if she’ll snuggle, I’ll take it!). Then I felt great. I made 12 cups of homemade chicken broth, and worked on my giant blanket. It is SO close to being done, it’s really all I want to do, is finish it. But other than that, all is well. I’ll be posting the recipe of one of the best meals I’ve come up with in awhile, well at least while we’ve been on the diet. It’s Grilled Pineapple Chicken with Grilled Zucchini. YUMMERS!!!! So keep an eye out for that in the next day or so.
Still juicing, and still feeling great from that. Honestly my skin has cleared up a TON! So that is a nice benefit. I’m not going to weight myself until Monday, when we all do our 2 week check in. There are 8 of us doing this weight loss challenge, and two are pretty much already out, so I’m going to keep on powering through.
Not a whole lot to report going on day 10 of this weight loss challenge. All is going well. We went to a birthday party last night for a good friend of ours, and man, that was hard to not indulge in all of the temptation. There were hamburgers, drinks, and cake, but we both held strong and just ate when we got home. It was a little later than I would have wanted to eat, but I figure eating a little later and eating healthy is better than pigging out early and regretting that decision. We are now also on day 10 of juicing! My skin has improved drastically. Who knew at 32 years old, I would have worse skin than I did when I was in high school. But such is life! Yay for juicing though. It definitely gives me that extra boost in the morning.
Oh and I also found my new favorite tea. It’s Twinings Green Tea with Jasmine, 25 Count. It gives me that extra boost in the afternoon that I need, it’s healthy, and it tastes just like the tea I get when we get Chinese food, which I have been searching for now for about 15 years! So that’s a plus. Anyway, here’s to the next 18 days! Almost halfway done, then it is smooth sailing from there. Hopefully 🙂
I weighed in yesterday and I am currently down 6.5lbs. A lot of this was probably water weight as I was feeling SUPER bloated when we started the challenge, but I also think a lot of it has to do with just eating 100% better. We are juicing daily, lots of salads for lunch without all the bad for you good stuff, and eating our normal well rounded dinners. It’s been a good change and while I miss some food, it hasn’t been too bad at all. I’m looking forward to making permanent long term changes after the challenge.
We have a group weight in next Monday to see what we’ve all lost 2 weeks in, then there are only 2 weeks to go after that. Very excited!
